Hi Sheldon, it's me, Jan. I visited you the other day when I was staying with your lovely neighbour. You are a lucky duck to have such a nice mummy but, then, you are a very nice little duck. I hope you and your mummy go from strength to strength.

I have thorougly enjoyed your story. I have 3 Pekin ducks that have stolen my heart. We have had them for about 3 months, not sure of exact age when we got them. It was Easter time and they were already mostly feathers, but just beautiful. I could sit and watch them all day. I noticed how Sheldon interacts with humans, and wonder if that is because you hatched him and interacted with him since day one. Our ducks don't like to be touched or held, maybe because they were older when we got them. As it turns out we have 2 males & 1 female. Their names are Milk, Honey & Pate'(sorry). Pate'is the female. We are hoping for ducklings, I believe in the Spring maybe. I don't know enough about them yet, but thanks to sites like yours I'm learning. If you have any information you'd like to share about hatchin

hi sheldon!! just read your diary. i live on a canal in florida, in the usa, and we have mallards and some white ducks that live in our backyards and the canal. i feed them, and have developed names for some of them. there is one tiny mallard duckling in the group, also. the duckling's mother's name is miss scarlett. we are trying out a few names for the duckling, one of which being diogenes, aka, doodle duck. we had two white females, doris and lucy, but much to our heartbreak, they were found dead a couple of months ago. we don't know why. their mates are still with us. our duckling amazes us with her bravery, strength and determination. we are in awe of her, and thrilled by her, and the extraordinary things she must do to keep up with her mom. love your site, love you, your brothers, sisters, and humans!

Thanks for writing, Karen! Doodle Duck is my favourite name of the ones you mentioned. Just take care with their names. Look what happened to me! They called me Sheldon and I turned out to be a girl! Sorry to hear about Doris and Lucy.

Glad you enjoyed my diaries. I'll add you to my online fan club!

Sheldon

Hi Sheldon! I think I just might like winter afterall! This weekend I experienced my first ever rainstorm! My favorite part was all the earthworms that came to the surface of the mud. I couldn't eat enough of them! At night, my mom has to chase me around the yard because I'm too busy to go to bed. In fact yesterday, I tricked her good and HID under the coop so I could stay out longer! She went and got the flashlight and ordered me to bed! I hope you are well. Give everyone a great big hug for me! Happy noodling! Love, Mallory xo xo xo

Hi Sheldon! "They" always say that the grass is greener on the other side. And boy is it ever! I had an incredible few minutes away from Tiny, Bossie, Lara, Emily, Charlotte and Wynona as I made a jail break and slipped on over to my neighbors property. Mom caught me right away, put me back into my own yard and was late for work putting barricades up along the fenceline. Oh, but the WORMS! Delish! I'm so glad you and your crew are all doing great! Miss you tons! Love, Mallory xo xo xo xo xo

Hi Sheldon, I'm sure that you're not reading this yourself, although you seem quite talented. Talented and, I think, a little spoiled and pampered. But why not? It's obvious that you provide a lot of happiness to those big human animals so why shouldn't you enjoy the fruits of your labor? The pictures and your diary are truly uplifting. I have some of your distant relatives living with me and I'm sure they would like to convey their sincere quacks to you. You are such a pretty bird I bet the other ducks are very jealous! And what a lovely name. It is a very pretty name for a very special friend. Warmest wishes to you and and your entire family.

We have 2 Rouen ducklings and 2 Peking ducklings. I have gotten online to read about Sheldon a couple of times in the past few weeks. The ducklings were Easter gifts for our 6 year old son and 3 1/2 year old daughter. I believe that I've taken to the ducklings as well, if not better than the kids. They are so much fun. Any suggestions on how long you allowed Sheldon to swim a day between 3 and 6 weeks of age? Also, is Sheldon a Rouen duckling? If not what breed is She? Thanks for any advice you have about making these ducklings a part of our family and our children's lives! Rindy Cayce

What a lovely site!I was trawling through the net looking at duckling-related pages as I'm reinstating 2 fairly large ponds in our garden and I'd love some pet ducks. It's great to see how adorably tame yours are and also how compatable with cats,as I've got 3 Burmese hunters myself who are very intent on trying to eat my children's pet gerbils if they find their ways into their bedrooms unattended.I was toying with the idea of letting the newly-hatched ducklings imprint on my rather broody dog to help protect them! Thanks alot for all the very useful incubator info too,and I hope it's not long before you're feeling 100% fit again.
